Oh gosh. Boy is this the wrong place to have a rant, I know I'm gonna get ripped a new one but I don't even care anymore. I'm so fed up with everything right now.
Okay so it started with a song today. I watched the music video to The Offspring- Hammerhead. Because the tune of that song is very pretty. But that had to be the scariest video ever. But that's beside the point. You know, the lyrics don't sound so bad... sounds like they might actually be singing a song praising soldiers. There's a few questionable lines, but over all, with lyrics like "through it all, my aim is true", "I join my brothers in arms", "I feel I serve the greater good" and "to keep my people from harm" you'd think hey, this isn't another anti-military song. But then you watch the music video.... WTF? I've heard the song was about a school shooter who thinks he's a soldier, but seriously, this video has a deeper meaning. Like, that part where the soldier is feeding the baby and there's some dark stuff coming out of it's mouth and then he's holding it upside-down........... so anyway let me tell you how I'm feeling. I'M SO TIRED OF HEARING ANTI-WAR ANTI-MILITARY ANTI-CONSERVATIVE BULLSHIT. Give it a FUCKING REST. FUCK. It's a fucking broken record, it's "in" now to be like that. The fucking media preaches it, there's got to be only a hand-full of conservative celebrities. But again, that's off topic. I go to school and see 500 fucking peace signs. It's a fucking fad. DON'T misunderstand me, I'm NOT a war-monger. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE FUCKING PRACTICAL. Do you really think it's totally realistic for there to just be peace all the time? You think it's that easy- just be like "Hey man don't fight, we can talk this out. Hey terrorists- please don't hate us, okay? thankyou!" Not every country is so willing to just be that way, every country has their own personal agenda. That's what ignorant kids my age don't understand- and it seems like a lot of adults too. Peace isn't as easy as just saying "No more fighting guys- that's not cool." BTW anyone who is anti-military can fucking suck it. Those men and women devote their lives to the country because they believe in what the US stands for and they feel they owe something to the country that's given them so much. If you don't feel the same, whatever. But those are the people who are gonna protect your sorry ass when something goes wrong. And another thing. I know how much everyone hates Bush. I think it's crap, but none the less I'm aware that the vast majority of the world hates him. Okay whatever, he's out of office, you got you're democratic president now. Or should I call him Jesus? Cause everyone is treating him like he's gonna lead us all to the promise land. You know what- I sincerly hope he does well as president. Because I love my country and I don't want to see her go down the tubes. But there is WAY too much excitement over Obama right now. It's gonna take a long ass time to pull us out of our economic crisis- Obama or not. And guess what people- it's NOT all Bush's fault. Fuck, EVERYTHING gets blamed on him. I tripped and fell the other day- a liberal would tell me it was Bush's fault. My dog got bit by another dog- Bush's fault. The economic situation is EVERYONE'S FAULT. When the stock market fell it was a chain reaction- people saw it crashing down and they sold their stocks which made it fall further. You cannot blame this all on him, even if it makes you feel better. Do I think he was the best president ever? Of course not, but I think he's done more good things than people give him credit for. I'm just so tired of it all. I am a conservative who loves her country and the military and is proud of that. I won't back down now just because it seems that the majority of the country is liberal. I won't switch sides or stay quiet just to stay in a good light with everyone. And I wish more Republican politicians and even just citizens would speak up right now- the only voice that's being heard right now is the liberal's, and I'm pretty sure this country is run by a 2-party system. Do I expect to make any friends with this? Haha that's funny; in fact I expect probably some pretty harsh responces. I WELCOME YOUR OPINIONS; THEY MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND AND EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN. I ask you to respect mine as best you can like I will do for you if your comment isn't rude and uncalled for. |

Anyway, I'm pretty liberal, but that doesn't mean I believe in abortion. Everybody's different, thank god!

You're the type that give conservatives a good name. Unfortunately for you, not many conservatives are like you. You must realize that conservatives get a bad name thanks to a lot of far right nut-jobs.
Once again, great job. Keep up the good work.

Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
BTW, thank you. Thank you for giving the support to our men and women of the armed forces.
She is right guys, Freedom wasn't giving Freely, Freedom was bleed for. With Blood, Sweat and Tears for over 200 years since we have been a nation. Remember that people. Freedom wasn't given on a sliver platter but by them three.

tl;dr version: I agree with a lot of what you say.

First, yeah, sometimes peace is a solution, sometimes it's not.
Second, Bush is getting the same crap every president gets. Presidents are scapegoats. Go back and read the papers from any president, even ones that are now loved (JFK, Lincoln, Washington) just taking the job means you're gonna piss off a lot of people.
Third, there's a difference between anti-military and anti-soldier. My father was a soldier. Several of my friends are/were soldiers. I would never join the military or recommend it to someone. Not because I don't value what the military does for the country, but because I grieve for what the military does to its employees.
Fourth, I sympathize about politics being trendy, and the whole "Messiah" thing. Personally I wish the media would give the guy a little breathing room. He's got a mess to handle.
Fifth, I don't blame politicians for the current economic situation. I blame idiots (most of whom are recipients of this "bail-out" package that inspires me to smack people with golf clubs). I also blame the politicians that have allowed fiscal law to become more complex than any religion in the history of man.
On a final note, academia is always a little left-leaning. Nature of the beast.
I mean, I think peace is a good idea, and I wish that the world really could be all peaceful and crap, but the idea is simply too far-fetched. What most Americans don't understand is that, like you said, not every country wants to be a democracy. I think it all goes back to that essential human greed. Perhaps the leaders of the other countries just love their power too much - and I don't blame them one bit for it. Hell, I wouldn't want to give that up either.
Anyways; that was a random section, but whatever.
You know, I agree completely with the Obama section of your rant, too. At first, I was all for McCain, mainly because my dad was. But then, I don't know, that smooth-talker Obama just kinda' won me over. And now that he's actually the president, I'm really happy for him. Sure, my dad rants about him daily, but all I can do is just hope and pray that he does a good job with the major tasks ahead of him.
But then I see the commercials about the commemorative coins and plates and everything under the flippin' rainbow, and I'm just like, "QUIT worshiping him." I understand that he's the first "African-American" president, and yes, that's nice. It's lovely, even, but...rah (that's a whole 'nother rant on my part), but come on, people. Really? REALLY? Calm down.
Anyways. There could be more I could say, but, it's late and I need to get going to bed.
Brave move, ranting about something so touchy in such a public place.
Good job.
Seriously, I've been wanting to bring up this topic. I couldn't of said it better.
Its like, dude, there will never, EVER be world peace. I'm sick of the "MAKE LOVE NOT WAR!" t-shirts and shit. God..and like you mentioned..the peace sign thing?! If I have to see one more shirt/bag/necklace with a peace sign on it I'm going to scream. I go to a store and see a hoodie I like and WELL GOSH LOOK AT THAT theres a peace sign on it. No way I'm buying that. The fad is pretty lame.
And I can't stress enough how sick I am of people complaining about Bush and how everything is his fault. Have you seen how worn out he looks nowadays? Give the poor man a break.
You've got a nice rant here. I applaud you.
